The 2017 THON logo has officially been revealed. During the Family Carnival on Sunday, THON directors released the design, a blue and green insect resembling a lightening bug. This year’s theme is “Igniting Hope Within,” not only within the organization but also within the families and children affected by childhood cancer.
The theme for this year’s Family Carnival was “Mission Impossible.” THON children were sent on missions created by captain committees and organizations. The activities sent participants around to different booths which had a variety of games and different missions.
Dancer Relations captain and senior Hannah Geist felt lucky to be a part of Family Carnival this year. “Family Carnival is a great way to hangout with the families before the craziness of THON Weekend,” says Hannah.
Around 4 p.m. THON’s executive committee members revealed the 2017 logo unveiling a huge banner and unzipping their jackets to reveal the new merchandise.
Geist say’s “One of my favorite parts of Family Carnival is the logo reveal because it’s a reminder that THON 2017 really is just around the corner.”
This year, THON weekend is February 17 to 19. Penn State students’ yearlong fundraising effort culminates on this weekend when students have the chance to see the amount of money raised along with the kids and families whom they helped. Valley is excited about the new THON logo and even more excited that THON weekend is quickly approaching.
