The 51st annual THON wrapped up this past Sunday, February 19th, with a whopping 15 million dollars raised, all for the kids. The 46-hour dance marathon featured kids’ talent shows, an athlete dance battle and performances from bands across the country and from right here in State College. Take a look below to check out more about these awesome groups.
THE BAND LIGHT
Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, THE BAND LIGHT is a rock n’ roll boy band, consisting of four members, ages 18-21. Konnor Dolberry, Trevor Moon, Jack Glenn, and Garrett Goodrich rocked the BJC early Sunday morning, performing covers like “Steal My Girl” by One Direction and “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton, along with some of their own songs like “Crash My Car,” for which the band just released a new music video. If you like a Harry Styles and Elton John sort of vibe, you’ll love this band. Their music is out on all streaming platforms, and they can be found on Instagram and TikTok at @thebandlightofficial.
Go Go Retro
Living up to their name, the band Go Go Retro really gets you go go going! These guys and gal helped the BJC wrap up THON weekend with their performance during the last hour of the Final Four. Vinny, Kira, Greg, Greg, and Mikey helped keep the dancers awake while they performed covers of your favorite 80s and 90s songs, and an impressive 15-minute medley consisting of 15 different 80s songs. The band’s next performance in State College will be on March 23rd and 3 Dots Downtown. To keep up with Go Go Retro, follow them on Instagram at @gogoretroband.
Adam and the Armadillos
One word. Yeehaw! Country hour would not have been the same Sunday morning without these guys stomping their boots. From central Pennsylvania, Adam and the Armadillos are a honky tonk band that the BJC could not get enough of. When the band played their last song, the crowd started cheering for one last song, and they delivered. Let’s just say, there’s nothing better than screaming the lyrics to “Chicken Fried” at 5:30 in the morning. Give them a follow on Instagram at @adamandthearmadillos.
Royals
This band whose members come from all over New Jersey pumped up the energy Saturday afternoon with their covers that everyone shouted the words to. Royals made the day extra special, giving a shoutout to all the sororities and fraternities and playing songs just for them. If you want to see this band rock the night away again, they play shows all throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions. Follow them on Instagram at @royalsusa.
