“Summertime Sadness” and Grammy-nominated artist Lana Del Rey posed as the face of Kim Kardashian’s clothing brand SKIMS’ 2024 Valentine’s Day collection in a sultry and romantic photo-op. The items were released on Jan. 24 and have been selling extremely fast ever since. Lana as the face of this campaign received much enthusiasm from the internet and sparked excitement for Kim’s most recent launch.
What is it about Lana?
LDR has been known since the start of her career to completely immerse herself in different aesthetics and fully captify them. She has also been associated with things like romance, lust and heartache through her music and dressing; all aspects that are featured as visual components of the SKIMS campaign.
In the midst of Lana’s career, some of her albums have encapsulated very similar themes to the shoot. Her debut “Born to Die” has become heavily linked to heart shaped sunglasses and coquette imagery. LDR’s third album “Honeymoon” carries a soft and romantic vibe alongside her fourth album “Lust for Life” which features the single “Love.”
In her recent maturing years, Lana has shifted away from the flirtatiously heartbroken aesthetic. The sound of her more recent albums such as “Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd” has differed from those towards the beginning of her career, reflecting her changes as both a woman and an artist. Seeing Lana posing in a style that once would have been her classic look, but now in a time when she has evolved and explored more of herself, has a reminiscence and nostalgia that the internet loves to witness.
A Small Review of the Collection
The “Fits Everybody Lace Cami Bodysuit” in Taffy Tonal is a revamp of its original release from last year’s Valentine’s collection with a brighter pink lace trim. The bodysuit could be a perfect layering piece for a night out or a statement for a more casual look.
The “Cotton Jersey Long Sleeve Cropped T-Shirt” was released in a limited edition color palette with sayings inspired by the classic Valentine’s candy “Sweethearts.” These cropped shirts are fun and festive for the season of love but can be worn way beyond February 14th as well!

The “Valentine’s Logo Slipper” could pair well with the limited edition pajamas from this collection or just be worn as a comfy, lounge shoe. SKIMS is expanding from not only just loungewear but to accessories as well.
