Trisha Paytas: YouTuber, TikTok star, self-proclaimed “foodie” and no stranger to controversy is making headlines again. She had a baby! Paytas announced their pregnancy to the world in Feb. 2022. as a result of previous claims that she would be unable to have a baby because of scarring that occurred from undetected chlamydia
The internet was shocked when she announced she got pregnant —but nonetheless supportive of the pregnancy.
On Sept 8, 2022, days before the birth of their baby, Paytas found herself trending on Twitter. Hours after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the internet started interneting and rumors began to circulate that Paytas’ baby was none other than the reincarnation of the queen herself. Trolls were premature with their timing on this one, and Paytas took to the high road to avoid any more baby mama drama.
“Well this is awkward…to have to announce that I’m still VERY much pregnant and have NOT given birth,” Paytas, 34, wrote on their twitter. “I almost felt sad yesterday to tell people this. The internet is a weird place. I don’t know how any of those rumors started or why?”
Despite the chaos leading up to the birth of their daughter, Paytas handled the rumors about the queen aberrantly well. In preparation for the birth, they posted a video entitled “Pack my HOSPITAL BAG with me”. Fans returned to the video after Malibu Barbie’s birth and realized Paytas’ was hiding the name right under their noses. In the video, they are wearing one necklace with the Barbie logo and another that with Malibu written on it in all capital letters… an Easter egg like that might have never gotten past the Swifties.
They announced the birth of the baby on Sept 14 along with the name reveal: Malibu Barbie. And the internet had a lot to say about it. Haters and the internet go together like peanut butter and jelly, so naturally, the name was criticized, trolled and memed.
But, in a refreshing twist, there have been a lot of positive responses from the public as well. To be fair, celebrities have pulled far nuttier names out of the crazy name book in the past. For example, Elon Musk’s kid has the number 12 in his name while Barbie, short for Barbara, has been a name for years.
But regardless of what people say, it is undeniable that Paytas is proud to be a mother and that Malibu Barbie is already an icon. Paytas has been posting up with their new family and rocking adorable matching mommy-daughter outfits.
