That’s right everybody, fall is here and with it comes its notorious signature flavor: pumpkin spice. Whether you’re a PSL die-hard or not much of a fan of the pumpkin flavor, Starbucks has been hard at work to make sure there’s something for everybody on their fall menu.
Of course, with food and drinks both new and old, and flavors ranging from pumpkin to apple, VALLEY just had to try everything there was to offer. After quite the extensive taste test, we now have the perfect list of recommendations for your next trip to Starbucks!
The Return of a Classic
By this point, most people know whether they’re a pumpkin spice latte fan or not. For those who never really warmed up to the PSL, Starbucks offers their Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, but unless you’re looking for a standard coffee with just a slight hint of fall, it doesn’t quite hit the mark when it comes to seasonal drinks. Don’t worry, though, because making your own combination is so incredibly easy at Starbucks!
If you’ve been searching for something new, but don’t want to lose that quintessential taste of fall, look no further than VALLEY’s new go-to order: a Soy Chai with Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam. It combines the flavors of chai and pumpkin in a way that allows them to complement each other, rather than fighting for the top spot. Plus, as an added bonus, each sip tastes like you’re walking through a candle store in November; yes, it’s that autumnal.
New This Season
New to the family is the Apple Crisp Macchiato, and it truly did come to impress. While the flavor combination definitely isn’t for everyone, something about the way the apple, brown sugar, caramel and espresso came together was just so interesting.
If you don’t love the flavor of pumpkin but would still love a seasonal drink, consider giving the Apple Crisp Macchiato a try. Better yet, VALLEY recommends ordering it “upside down,” which will guarantee a taste of the apple crisp flavor in every sip.
From the Bakery
As for food, Starbucks came out with three pumpkin-flavored bakery items, and they’re surprisingly good! If you’re looking for something on the breadier side, the Pumpkin Loaf is the only one that isn’t paired with some sort of icing, so it isn’t overly sweet.
As for the Pumpkin Scone, it’s the only one of the three not topped with pumpkin seeds, and it’s definitely the sweetest of the bunch. Pro tip: If you want it to be softer and more dessert-like, ask for it heated up!
The Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin is like a combination of the two, with just a small bit of cream cheese filling in its center. It offers that pumpkin flavor with just a bit of creaminess to balance it out without overloading on sweetness.
