After seven years without Kristin Cavallari, the 31-year-old reality star has returned to television. This new show, “Very Cavallari,” follows the entrepreneur as she opens her first store, Uncommon James. The store is being launched with help of four women, all with a flare for drama missing in Cavallari’s very settled life.
The show consists of Cavallari, her husband, and her employees: Shannon the social media director, Reagan the office assistant, Brittainy the office manager and Taylor the Uncommon James’ model.
While the show is centered around Cavallari’s journey, the real star of the show is her husband, retired NFL quarterback Jay Cutler. Newly retired Cutler is always present in show, looking uninterested in life itself and offering up snarky one-liners whenever possible.
“I’ll give ‘em more, ‘byes,’ than ‘hi’s,’” said Cutler to Cavallari after he refused to greet her employees. Cutler later asserts his status as the grumpy retiree when he complains about an employee parking on their grass.
Cavallari is keen on getting Cutler out of the house and back to work, “just to not have to deal with Jay on a daily basis… I cannot wait for that to be over.”
Despite Cutler’s overall poor attitude, which earned him the nickname ‘Les Mis,’ he and Cavallari seem to have a settled and happy life together.
The real action is in the employees and each of their respective lives in Nashville. In the first few minutes it is hard not to feel the tension between Brittainy and Shannon over who outranks who in the company. Shannon takes it as far as to mock Brittainy to model Taylor, behind Brittainy’s back. The trailer for the rest of the season promises much more drama giving us Kristin and LC flashbacks from “The Hills.”
While the show might be named after the reality star, Kristin Cavallari merely plays a supporting role as the ringleader to her circus of drama. If you were hoping for something more than a guilty-pleasure show about catty women struggling to be professional, you might want to switch the channel.
“Very Cavallari,” is on E! Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
