The legend herself passed on almost two years ago. Today, her impact on fashion, culture and the punk scene thrives. Andreas Kronthaler, her husband, is the current creative director of the brand. Her legacy lives through his vision and designs for the collections. Over a year ago, VALLEY wrote about the Spring-Summer 2024 show. It’s been a while. So, here is an update on everything Vivienne Westwood.
Moving On
Cora Corré is Vivienne Westwood’s granddaughter. She worked as the campaigns manager for the brand. In October, she decided to resign from her position. Amongst her reasons for resigning, one is the disconnect she feels between The Vivienne Foundation and the Vivienne Westwood Company.
Vivienne was known for her altruistic and humanitarian values. She cared about the environment, the working class and future generations. Corré feels the brand’s foundation, which continues all of her grandmother’s charitable efforts, isn’t represented by the company’s current values.
Corré will shift all of her focus to the foundation. She will continue the designer’s work in all pillars of activism, keeping Vivienne’s humanitarian legacy alive.
Bold, Baby.
The recent Spring-Summer 2025 collection put a modern twist on some of Vivienne’s signature pieces. As seen below, Look 26 packs a punch. The look boasts a frog corset, ribbed crimson tights, silver heels, a metal chest-piece, red snapback and a plaid heart-shaped bag. Oh my.
Adding onto this wonderful creation, the brand cohesively shot a series of photos showcasing these looks. From October 20th to the 22nd, the collection was posted on Instagram. In each photo, a model posed holding a big balloon letter in front of a mod, linear background.
Look 9 is another example of the modern touches in this collection. The model poses in a black tank top and shorts branded with “Ripped And Ready” in a peculiar font. Though they’re wearing black loafers, the orange bag matches perfectly with the pink and blue mini purse.
Looking at all of the posts, the capitalized letters spelled out the brand. This was an innovative advertising choice to show off each look in the collection.
Celebrity Encounters
The brand dresses many celebrities for formal and informal occasions. Two of these notable figures are Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift. Separately, the two glowed in the brand’s designs.
On November 9th, Taylor Swift headed out to dinner to meet Zoë Kravitz. She wore a vibrant, vintage Vivienne Westwood corset dress. The piece was paired with a black Westwood bag and Aquazzura heels.
Last, but certainly not least, Ariana Grande wore a dreamy, flowing Westwood gown to her “Wicked” premiere. The London atelier created the piece with pink tulle and crystals. The gown perfectly matched her bubbly character Glinda that she plays in the film.
