#WCW: Amal Clooney

For years, the world has been waiting to see what woman would be special enough to make George Clooney settle down and get married. Hollywood’s “most eligible bachelor” married Lebanese-British lawyer Amal Alamuddin (now Amal Clooney) on September 27th, 2014 and had the whole world asking “who is Amal Alamuddin?” Many people have solely been paying attention to just the fact that she’s beautiful and “Mrs. Clooney.” But, Amal is much more than just the woman George Clooney married.  Here are just a few reasons why the intelligent, beautiful, selfless and accomplished Amal Clooney is our #WCW.

She’s worldly

Amal was born in Lebanon, lived in London, and then went to Law school at none other than New York University School of Law. Because of her experiences, she’s fluent in three languages: English, Arabic and French.

She’s intelligent 

Amal has a Master of Laws degree from NYU where she received the Jack J. Katz Memorial Award for excellence in entertainment law. Before that, she attended St. Hugh’s College in Oxford. She also received awards there, including an Exhibition scholarship and the Shrigley award. Currently, she is a barrister (a type of lawyer, not the amazing people at Starbucks who make our lattes) at Doughty Street Chambers. There, she specializes in international law, criminal law, human rights and extradition- wow. This semester, she is also a visiting faculty member and senior fellow at Columbia (specifically, the Law School’s Human Rights Institute) where she will lecture students about human rights litigation. We’re pretty jealous of those students right now.

She’s an activist

According to a Yahoo! article, Amal has “served as an advisor to the United Nations as a consultant on crises in Syria and Lebanon, and has many high-profile clients” and “in 2014 alone, Clooney has worked with British Foreign Secretary William Hague ‘to discuss how to drive forward international action to protect children in conflict zones from rape and sexual violence.'” She’s done so much more to make the world a better place. We can’t wait to see which next big profile case she takes on next!

She’s stylish

Not only does Amal study hard and make the world a better place, but she always looks good while doing it. Elle claimed “Mrs. Clooney’s style is as remarkable as her career” and even chronicled her most stunning looks.

It’s no wonder Amal was named London’s most powerful woman last year, she’s got everything going for her! We definitely approve of George’s choice of who he settled down with, but we can’t help but think: the world should’ve been paying attention to who Amal would deem worthy of being her husband. (We don’t think she did too shabby, either)
