Welcome back, State! After a long summer away, it feels good to be back on campus. And while the start of a new year can be daunting, the first week of the semester holds lots of exciting—and free—events. Valley has the scoop on the best of Welcome Week.
On Tuesday from 6-8 p.m., Waring Halls will host BinGlow in the study lounge. Try and win one of the many cool prizes! At the same time, Pollock Quad will be hosting kickball with free food. For dancers, Redifer Commons will have Zumba from 7-8. And Robinson North Halls will host speed friending from 8-10 p.m., a great way to meet lots of new people at once.
The main event on Wednesday is the Involvement Fair from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on the Hub’s Center lawn. Come check out the over 1,000 student groups that make Penn State special and join the ones that interest you!
On Thursday, the week slows down with Paint-N-Sip in Redifer Commons at 8 p.m.. Supplies are provided, so come paint an item to take home while enjoying a complimentary refreshment.
Friday night gets the weekend going with the Nittany Block Party from 5:30-11 p.m.. In addition to free food and activities, this year’s festivities will also include a performance by rapper KYLE of “iSpy” fame. The night is sure to be one to remember. For die hard Penn State fans, the place to be is Penn State Trivia Night in Findlay Commons at 7 p.m.. This will be a chance to show off your Nittany knowledge to old and new friends.
As exciting as all of those events sound, the best news is that there is even more going on throughout the week. Be sure not to miss anything by talking to your RA, peers, and checking out signs around campus. One of the coolest parts about Penn State is that there’s something going on everyday. Especially for freshman, the first week is a great one to make memories. Happy Welcome Week!
