If you have ever walked past the tennis courts at the IM Building on a sunny afternoon, you have probably seen students standing around with paddles in hand, waiting for a chance to play. While the IM courts are a convenient option, they are almost always full. Luckily, there are several other places around State College where you can play pickleball without the wait.

High Point Park

High Point park is located just a short drive from downtown and offers well-maintained courts in a quiet residential neighborhood. It is a peaceful setting compared to the IM courts that is perfect for a casual match with friends.

Tusseyview Park

This is another solid option. Tucked into a scenic area with views of Tussey Mountain, it is a relaxed spot with lined courts that often go unnoticed by most. The environment is calm and rarely crowded, making it a good choice for both new and experienced players to play a friendly match.

Dalevue Park

This is slightly more out of the way, but it is worth the drive. It is one of the quieter places to play and while it is best to bring your own net just in case, the open space and availability usually make up for that extra step. Able to play as many matches as you wish, Dalevue Park may be the perfect spot to compete without the stress of another group waiting on the sidelines.

State College YMCA

For those who prefer playing indoors or during the colder months, the State College YMCA offers indoor pickleball courts with a membership or day pass. It is a reliable, year-round option that ensures the weather will not interrupt your game.

Community Field

This park is about a 20-minute walk from downtown and is one of the most accessible spots near campus. The courts are shared with the local high school, but they are often open and available for public use. It is a convenient location for students looking for a game without having to drive somewhere.

The Final Serve

With so many alternatives just a short drive (or walk) away, playing pickleball in State College does not have to mean waiting in line at the IM courts. These parks provide reliable options to play on your own schedule and maybe even find a new favorite spot.
