There are over 2,000 fruits throughout the world, from simple apples to spiky durians. But besides being delicious, what do they do for us? Here’s a list of fruits and all the health benefits they offer. 

Apple

Apples are very rich in fiber which can help lower cholesterol and prevent diabetes. Apples can also help with weight loss since they are a very filling food due to their fiber content. 

Fun fact: There are over 7,500 types of apples grown in the world.

Banana

Bananas are full of antioxidants and great for improving gut health. They are also a popular food among athletes since they contain easily digestible carbs and can help alleviate cramping and soreness after a workout. 

Fun fact: A bunch of bananas is called a “hand.” 

Orange

Oranges are very high in vitamin C, which boosts the body’s immune system, are anti-inflammatory and increase collagen production. They can also prevent chronic diseases. 

Fun fact: The world’s largest orange producer is Brazil. 

Grapes

Grapes are full of antioxidants and vitamins which help boost your immune system, lower blood pressure, improve bone health and might even slow down aging. Grapes are also full of water so if you are ever dehydrated, eat some grapes. 

Fun fact: It takes 2.5 pounds of grapes to make a bottle of wine. 

Watermelon

Watermelon is made up of 90% water, which makes it the perfect summer snack to keep you hydrated. Due to its lycopene content, watermelon can also help keep your skin healthy. 

Fun fact: You can indeed eat the rind of a watermelon. 

Pineapple

Pineapple aids in healthy digestion and is an anti-inflammatory so it is great for helping relieve pain and swelling. It can also improve bone health and even boosts male fertility. Just keep your pineapple consumption in check because too much can cause cold sores. 

Fun fact: Pineapples ripen faster upside down. 

Kiwi

Kiwis are great for heart health and can help reduce the risk of stroke. They also contain a lot of vitamin C which is great for immunity.  

Fun fact: The full name of the fruit is Kiwifruit, and it was named after New Zealand’s national bird, the Kiwi.  

Cherry

Cherries are packed full of nutrients, such as vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. Cherries also contain melatonin which can help improve your sleep. And of course, they are delicious.  

Fun fact: The average cherry tree produces around 7,000 cherries. 

Strawberry

Strawberries are a great source of antioxidants which can help reduce cardiometabolic risks. Strawberries can also improve brain health and reduce the risk of dementia.

Fun fact: A strawberry is a type of rose. It belongs to the Rosacea family.
