An alleged altercation took place between Zayn Malik and Yolanda Hadid, during which the former “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star claims the singer struck her and shouted profanities at her.
The confrontation is said to have taken place on Sept. 29 when Malik was staying at his then-girlfriend Gigi Hadid’s home in Pennsylvania. The couple had been together for six years and have a 1-year-old daughter named Khai. Sources told TMZ that the confrontation followed Yolanda Hadid “barging” into the home.
According to the sources, Malik felt like Yolanda was “acting like the house was hers” and “ignoring” Malik’s role as Gigi’s boyfriend and Khai’s father. The sources also claim that Malik told Yolanda about how he felt, but that she “wasn’t having it.”
The insider also revealed that there has been built-up tension between the two after Yolanda posted photos of Khai on social media, despite Malik’s wishes to maintain her privacy.
After news of his altercation with Yolanda, Malik took to Twitter to explain the situation. “As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in,” he wrote. “A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart. In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of a partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”
He went on to say, “This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press. I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”
In another statement to TMZ, Malik adamantly denied the claims. “For the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private,” he said.
Malik was charged with four counts of harassment against Yolanda, to which he pled no contest on Wednesday, Oct. 28, as reported by Page Six.
“Malik was fined and ordered to serve 90 days of probation for each count, for a grand total of 360 days. He must also complete anger management courses and a domestic violence supervision program, and must not make any contact with Yolanda Hadid or her security guard, who apparently was also involved in the altercation.”
In a statement given to People, a rep for the model said, “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time.”
Amid the public charges, it has been revealed that Malik and Gigi have been separated and co-parenting Khai for over a month. Yolanda unfollowed the singer on Instagram, as did Gigi’s siblings Bella and Anwar. Gigi and her father Mohomed are still following Malik.
